A case of what case to use... hello to all, i recently took the plunge and invested in my first slr (canon 300d) and am... shall we say apprehensive... about taking it deep into the woods for backpacking-type extended trips due to the risk of rain and general travel abuse. the whole purpose of getting an slr was to get the shots that weren't quite possible with my point and shoot.. but my hydrophobia is getting the better of me... can anyone offer suggestions on how to pack it safely on 5+ day wilderness trips while still having an accessible camera? sounds like an oxymoron, I know... am I just being a baby or is there a right way to do this? any and all information would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! ... let the bashing begin!

Hi AP. Have a look at the LowePro mini-trekker backpack. If you don't want a backpack LowePro make several other 'fanny pack' type cases that will give your camera good protection from showers, dust etc. I use a LowePro Off-Trail 2 (without the lens cases) for my D60, adequate protection without being huge. Enjoy the wilds and post some shots when you return. Cheers

thanks for the reply. I think the mini might be more than what I need.. for now at least. but, the off-trail 2 looks great. I look at several online reviews and will make a trip to a local shop to spec it out in person in the next day or two. still wondering though, since the mfg lists it as water resistant, should I still take other precautions for sheltering the case or is it self-sufficient in a downpour? thanks again, ap
