Airport x-ray machines I will be going on a trip soon where I will be flying. Last year, the luggage person had me remove my film from my baggage because he said the x-ray machine would ruin it. He told me to put it in my carry-on bag. Now I have a digital and was wondering if my cards should go in my carry-on or my ragular luggage? Will either x-ray machine damage the cards? Thanks.

I'd put them in your carry-on. I don't think the X-ray actually hurts the digital cards, but since they've started X-raying and examining every bag the number of thefts from luggage (by baggage handlers presumably) has gone up. I'd put all camera equipment and anything else that's valuable in your carry-on. (I'm not 100% sure about the X-ray's lack of effect on digital cards.) Pam

X-rays do not detriment flash memory cards, but keep them with you just to have the comfort of knowing where your stuff is.

Thanks for helping me with my question. I will be carrying my camera with me on board. Thanks again. Carol
