Best zoom lens for Africa?

Hi. I own a Nikon N80 with a fixed 50mm lens, a set-up that I have loved from day one. I am going to be moving to Africa for a period of 3 years and will have the opportunity to do extensive traveling. I am looking for a quality zoom lens that will allow me to get wildlife, both still and action, as well as people, general landscape, and architecture. My price range is $600-700 (maybe a little more if it's a great deal). I have also been thinking about is getting a good distance zoom and a doubler to accompany it. Please let me know what my best options are. Thank you!

  Hi Kim!
I would suggest a 28-135mm zoom lens And a 400mm long lens!
A 2x teleconverter will be useful, but remember you will lose roughly 2 stops of light!
