How to get Clearer Image in Macro

I have just bought Sony DSC F707 digital camers , and I am learning photography. You can call me a beginner. I was practicing to go macro on this camera so that the back ground should go blur. I can only acheive that when I zoom to the subject all the way. Also , I cannot get the desired focus settings when I go manual focus. I would really appreciate your tips in this regard.
Plz see the images.

These are stunningly beautiful shots. The background is beautifully out of focus, making the flowers jump out. There's a "law" of optics that when you move in so close, your depth of field is very shallow. You can get more depth of field by using a smaller aperture (and, therefore, a very slow shutter). You may never get both the flowers and the green leaves in focus, because at macro distances, it just won't happen. Even though your camera may have set these parameters automatically, everything has worked beautifully, especially in the first one.
After you adjust the brightness and contrast in your imaging program (I hope you're using one), you can sharpen the image judiciously in Filter/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask (Photoshop terms). Elements 2 uses these terms, too, I think.
