Hi Renee I assume that you want to etch the silver plate to form a photograph. The process you need is called photo-etching and is probably a job for a professional (particularly on silver, damned expensive if you make a mistake). If you are determined to try it yourself Dupont make a photo emulsion called ImagOn that you stick on your metal, expose as if you were making a conventional B/W print, develop with Sodium Hydroxide (nasty stuff) and then etch with a chemical suitable for your base material. After etching you remove the emulsion leaving a perfect etched photo. There are some instructions here:- http://www.praga.com/improces.htm Your local art shop is probably a good place to start looking for the materials. Try a Google search for 'Photo etching' there are several courses available (although all seem to concentrate on etching Copper, cheaper I suppose :-) Let us know how you get on. Cheers
