Fujifilm S5000 Camera extra lenses. I am a beginner and have the Fujifilm S5000. I see that I can get a wide angle, and telephoto lens to add to it. What benefits would I get from adding one or both lenses for taking pictures? Marilou

Okay, I just found the book on the camera, and by the looks of it the Teleconversion lens would extend how far away I can take a picture of something without affecting the f-stop. So if I can get a picture about 1/8 mile away with the lens on the camera, I would be able to maybe double the distance? Please if I'm wrong let me know. I think the camera takes great pictures without the accessories. Thanks for any help.

I recently purchased the wide angle lens for my FujiS5000. I do use it, however I feel the price was to high for the additional space it captures. As you said in your comment, the camera is pretty versatile without the extra lenses. If I knew then what I know now I think I would have left the lens on the shelf at the camera shop. Gary.

Thanks Gary, I don't know that I would want the wide angle lens. I was thinking more about the extra telephoto lens. Like you said their not cheap, and I want to make sure that it is worth spending the money before I actually do.

I have recently bought the tele-converter lens. A bit pricey but it does help when I can't physically move in closer. I also bought some close up lens's +1 +2 +4 in a set, those come in handy when you realy need to get in extremly close and can physically be on top of a flower or bug. Just thought I'd up date.

Thanks Marilou! Did you buy Fuji brand lenses or other brands. I saw that a company in Japan had made some lenses that go with this camera and one was telephoto at a 3 instead of a 1.5 that fuji offers. Take care, Karma

Yes actually I did. That's why it's so pricey. I ordered it directly from there web site. I knew that there was some other brand that could be used but could never find the name. If you have the information on the name and where to get it could you let me know. Oh and the close up set is by sigma, I had asked Fuji about lens that would fit the s5000 and they said any lens with a 55mm thread on it would work, so hope that info helps any one else with this camera. Thanks. Marilou

No problem, I find that when using the close up lenses your auto focus with show up !AF in the view finder/LCD screen. Sometimes you can still take the picture and have it turn out. I find that even with the tele-converter it is best to use a tripod. Oh and you can get the set of three from Wolf or Ritz camera for about $28. with out tax.
