The easy way is to zoom in or move closer to the subject and read the exposure off the subject without the light from the window in the frame. Make a note of the exposure or 'lock' the exposure, move or zoom back to recompose and then take the picture or on manual set the proper exposure and take the shot. Spot metering will usually work fine. Michael K's advice is also a good work-around. Watch out for spot metering on the wrong area..I.e..Black shirt, white shirt..Most photogs will spot off the face flesh tones. Don't forget fill flash as well. Pete

Pete, I see you must be having same problem that I have. Did you notice the date on this ? when I read the all new question old ? with old dates are coming up I never go past page 1, 2 or page 3 but the dates on ? or 1 to 2 years old. Sandra
