Photography Question

Lens shadows

I have an Olympus e 20N, and I purchased a 2x telephoto lens for it. Even when I am zoomed in to the max, I get the shadow of the lens in the corners of the photo. Am I doing something wrong? Did I buy a crappy lens, or is this typical of my camera and should I just "crop it out" like the seller told me, and just live with it? Thanks.

This accessory lens is simply not 100% compatible with your camera/lens. The filter threads for your camera are 62mm diameter, and I've not seen any off-brand 2x extenders for digital cameras made that wide. I suspect you have one in smaller diameter and a step-down adaptor ring. The smaller diameter of your 2x is causing the vignetting.

Olympus makes a 1.45x (TCON-14B) and 3x (TCON 300) tele-extensions specifically for the E-20N. They should not cause any vignetting, but they are quite a bit more expensive.

I do not have a step ring., It is a 62mm lens that screws right on. no adapter needed.
