Purchasing my FIRST digital camera

Dear Sir:
My perfect Minolta auto focus 140 Zoom is on its last leg (and I love using this camera)but I am ready to go digital. I think I have narrowed my choices down to three but I would really appreciate the input of people who have been using a digital format a while. This would be my first digital camera, so obviously I want something that is used friendly but at a minimum, I want this digital camera to do everything my current 35mm does beautifully and that is: great zoom, great red eye reduction, good in low light, appropriate ISO for my daughters' soccer games and figure skating, beautiful pictures, and good memeory and power for the TON of pictures I take when we go on our family vacation. I know at some point I would like to take a course in Photo Shop and use that to help me create beautiful portraits of my family, but a camera with that capability may be beyond my current skill level for a first-time used of digital cameras. What do you think?
I know this is a lot of information but I am somewhat limited when it comes to getting good advice from my local camera shops. I welcome your advice, experiences, and recommendations regarding a digital camera and the best place to purchase one.
Thank you,
Katy Stayduhar

Wow you dont want much do you? :)
I would need a lot more information to help you. I've been shooting digital for 5 years. If you could email me your phone number I'd be glad to chat with you. I love helping others pick this or that! ***davidkone@yahoo.com**** take out the astericks.
