Marking Slides for Projection Hi, I've been told that there was a correct (standard) way to mark your slides for a Slide Presentation, i.e. input to the projector so everyone knows they will show properly. Can you help? Something about a mark in a specific corner. Just found this site and think it looks great. I'm going to use it for my research and questions.

Darlene, To project slides properly, you need to reverse and invert the slide before placing it into the carousel. With Kodak films, this is easy. The printed side of the slide film always faces the screen. In horizontal format, the Kodachrome (or Ektachrome) logo is upright. It's always wise to preview the presentation before showing it to your audience. Once the slides are in the carousel correctly. you can use a permanent marker to put a small dot on any corner you want for future reference.

Hello Darlene, Yes, there is a correct accepted way of marking slides for projection. You place a dot in the lower left hand corner of the slide mount when the slide is viewed correctly in your hand. This dot then is placed in the top right hand corner when the slide is placed in the slide projector. The only exception is in some slide projectors (some older Hanimex ones for example)where the spot had to be oriented differently. You still should always place the locating dot in the the lower left hand corner when the slide is viewed in your hand. Peter Strazds, Australia.

Hi Darlene> I have used in the past another method once I have faced the slides the right way up and out. That is to use a sharp razor blade to slice off a corner on the upper right edge. Then, it's very easy to align and visually see that all the slides are facing the right way. To ensure accuracy of similar cut I built a simple little wooden jig to hold the slide with the corner free to use the razor blade.
