Tara, Three things to learning photography - look, read and practice. First, look at all of the photography that you can, learn what styles you like and what it is that catches your eye (e.g. black and white or color, subject matter, etc...) Second, read as much as you can, Jim has some good starter stuff on this site, and you can find much more in the books that he offers and also online at other sites. Lastly, practice... you don't need alot of fancy equipment to get started with, a good used older model camera and a couple of prime lenses to start with should suffice for starters. Then just start shooting... use what you have seen that you like and what you have read to apply the theory. It may not come out right the first time, but don't get discouraged... it still doesn't come out right all the time for many photographers that have been shooting for years. Finally, if you have the time and the funds, a class for beginners would be recommended if you want to get a jump on things. Again, Jim has some wonderful class offerings on this site or maybe the community college or local art league may sponsor a class. Most of all, relax and have fun with it. It's too easy to get too serious too fast... Michaelle
