Reproduction of photo I want to take a digital photograph of some paintings I have done in this case the paintings are 18" by 24". I was told that that in order to reproduce them in that size or any size they need to be digitally photographed. 1)Does the megapixel size of the camera matter like a 2.1, 3.0 or 4.0 in terms of the final product? 2)Also where are the photos? Where are the digitized photos transferred to or on what software/hardware will they be? 3)How often can they be used, in these formats? 4)I want to reproduce xeroxed or color reproductions of these digitized photos and be able to continue to do so. Is that where the flash card comes in? This is a complex issue for me that needs to be explained in a more systematic simplified manner? Thank you. Hari H.

Hari, 1. Yes.The mega pixel size does matter. For 18" by 24", I would go for 4.0 MP. 2. In a digital camera, the "film" is replaced with a nice "CCD"(charge coupled device) sensor. In many models(I use canon powershot G2) you can set the sensitivity of this CCD to be like ISO50/100/200/400 film speeds. Since you are shooting a painting, I would suggest setting the film speed to ISO 50(for nice colors). Once you shoot the film, the camera stores this image as a digital file in the provided media. depending on your camera, this media may be a CF-card or memory stick or micro drive or SD-card. Also, the digital camera will have an USB port to transfer this picture directly to your computer. 3. I've used my 32MB CF-card for 6months now and I don't have any complaints with it. 4. For color reproductions, you may have to go for a digital photo printer. be sure to check that the photo printer supports the format of your flash card.
