Why no camera or lens information?

I enjoy browsing through all the great photos here at BP. I see many that are outstanding and when I look to see what kind of camera or lens was used, there is no information. All my information comes out on my photos so I am wondering if it is a personal preference or something BP is no longer doing. I am shopping around for an upgrade and would appreciate viewing some photos that have the information about the camera. Just wondering....

Again, why no camera information? No thoughts on the question?

I can't really help, Harriet, but I've noticed the same thing. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not. I don't know why.

I've seen this mentioned before and I just tested it again and it's still true. If you use the standard so called "platinum" uploader then there is no EXIF data. If you use the "alternate" uploader then the EXIF data is captured. That's one potential cause for what you are seeing.

Thank you, Geoffrey. This explains it perfectly as I always use the alternative uploader. Thanks, Lindley, too. Well, maybe this can be fixed. I just may ask for the info when I make a comment on a photo I really like. Thanks, again.

Interesting - I always use alternate, too.

If the exif data is captured on the alternate uploader, wouldn't this be a good thing as far as making ownership of the photo more secure? Just mulling it over in my mind.

I recently double-checked this and it holds true, even though I've seen it reported previously. There is no EXIF data when using the normal so-called spacebar clicker
