  I would think not as BP paid a fee (unless you provided the name) for it. You should really email Jim for the definitive answer. If you wish portability and want to cover that contingency, you should purchase your own and ask BP to use it. Then it you wish or must move elsewhere, your Domain Name goes with you.

  There is one other way that your name could be reused. If you left BP at some point BP would release the Domain Name. When they do it, it would be available for you to buy. However, there might be a large time delay. Of course, you could also own something close. They probably bought .com and maybe the same thing with different endings (like .net) would be acceptable to you and you could buy that immediately when you need it.

  You first have to wait for the domain name under what it is thru better photo to expire.
Once that happens, you may need to get what's called a transfer lock removed and get what's called an EPP authorization code. I say may because once the domain name registration has expired, it may not be literally free for anyone to use upon expiration.
Somebody emailed me asking about doing the same thing. He wasn't able to transfer his domain name right away, but was able to eventually.

  Hi Brigitte; I wrote to Jim about this some time ago, when my website was about to expire... Here's his reply, though you may want to reach out to him for more details, as I ended up renewing, and haven't attempted this:
++++++++++++++++++++
Here are instructions on how to transfer your domain name:

In order to get full control of your domain name, you will need to initiate a transfer through a domain name seller like godaddy.com or similar. A transfer is inexpensive (about $10) and includes another year of domain registration.

Once you order a transfer (through this seller), we will be sent an email with special transfer codes and instructions. Our tech support will then forward the email only to the email address on your BetterPhoto account so that you will be able to complete the process. Please make sure your email address with us is NOT your alias for your website with us because it will no longer work once the name is in process to transfer. Go to your Profile (contact info link) to make sure your email is your regular email address. If it's your website email alias, update it.

In our experience, a transfer typically takes 4-14 days, and this must be done before it expires and moves to a "redemption period", which is about a month after the renewal date you have with us.

After the domain name is transferred into an account of yours, you must change all contact information from ours to yours, and you may then change the DNS settings.
