Teleconverters

I would like to know if there will be any loss of light if I use a teleconverter. Will the quality of the picture suffer?

Using a teleconverter generally means a loss of about two stops worth of light. However, if your camera meters through the lens, it will automatically adjust for this.

As for the quality of the picture, I haven't noticed much loss while using a teleconverter, but the light reduction does further limit the conditions under which good photos can be taken.

Teleconverters will reduce the amount of light by their multiplication factor. IOW a 2x TC will reduce 2 stops of light. TC's will reduce sharpness relative to their quality. You will notice less loss of sharpness with better quality TC's.
