Buying a New Camera I'm looking into buying a new 35 mm camera. I already have a 35 mm pentax manual. It's a great camera to start out with but I want to move up. I was looking into the Canon Rebel and etc. cameras. But I just don't know what to pick or which one to get.

In the big brand name cameras there really aren't a lot of differences in quality. Mostly it comes down to which camera feels best in your hands and which one is set up for you to use most intuitively. Go to a store and hold some. See what feels good.

Hi Ash: Great advice from Jeff. The "feel" of a camera often gets overlooked in camera-buying advice, yet it's so important. Here's more: If possible, go to a camera-specialty store, as opposed to a department store where there's little selection and likely no knowledgeable people to help you. Then give the clerk an idea of what you're looking for - i.e., a model with full creative aperture-shutter speed controls (plus, if you're moving up, you may want depth of field preview). Of course, mention your budget. A few more questions (and answers), and you'll be surprised how quickly the choices get narrowed down. Then it's a matter of features vs. price ... and, again, see how each choice feels when you hold it. Good luck! Kerry
