I'm interested in the answers to your question also. I've purchased, and then given away, four compact digital cameras. I'm just so disappointed in the picture quality. I always selected a camera with Av, Tv and Manual capabilities but the noise, color and overpowered flash produced unacceptable photos. My latest compact camera, a Canon G12 was recommended by users of this forum but it hasn't lived up to their positive comments. It's ironic that my very first digital camera, a 3 mg pixel Canon Power shot A85, took great pictures. (I ruined the camera when I fell into mud with the camera in my hand.) None of the compact cameras I've purchased since then have been as good. That camera used compact flash cards like my SLR and I wonder if the large card makes a difference in quality. This is a picture that I took with that little camera.
