~Canon L Lenses for Kit~ Which of the "L" series would you begin to invest in, say one per season. I'm using a Canon 40D presently and really need to put a kit together eventually! Primary focus outdoors/nature/landscapes and yes a tripod is a must but still like an IS, for those fleeting moments!

I have several L's but the one that stays on my camera 75% of the time is the 24-105L. I have never been disappointed in the results from this lens. The 17-40L is my favorite lens on the tripod for landscapes but I need the IS capability of the 24-105L for hand held use. OLD!

Agree with Stephen...I have the 24-105L and it's great. Another one to consider, especially if you like nature/outdoors, is Canon's 100-400mm zoom. But get the 24-105 first!

I shoot with a Canon 40D and the 24-105L is my favorite walking around lens, too. Lots of versatility and quality considering its light weight. After that, it depends on the type of shooting you find yourself doing whether you get a macro, a wide angle, or a telephoto/zoom lens.

It's wonderfully good of ya all to respond, thank you!. I have been considering this very lens along w/100-400mm, after reviewing them for quite some time. So without further ado, happy trails to you, too.....
