lens upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade lenses for my Canon Rebel xsi which now has a Tamron 18-270 f3.5 on it, okay but a bit heavy. Have been looking at Canon L series, the 24-105 and the Macro 100mm. I know they're TOTALLY different, but I seem to split my work between close-ups and landscapes. Would appreciate any input on these two lenses, especially sharpness relative to the Tamron.
Thanks! Jeanne Maxon

I have the 90mm Tamron macro lens and it is a great lens, however, I really prefer not having the prime lens. I was considering getting that Tamron 18-270 but think I'm going to be getting the Canon L 24-70 and the 70-200 instead. Tamron does get great reviews for their lens sharpness so if you want to save some money I think your safe getting the Tamron macro lens. With the Canon lens your paying for higher quality. Good luck choosing.
Pam :)

Thanks for your response! I've just about decided on the Canon L 24-105 for its lighter weight and versatility. But I'm going to check out the Tamron macro.

Hi there I actually own the Tamron 18-270 and it's OK, but I'd prefer the Canon "L" lenses. As a matter of fact I'm just about ready to purchase one.
Still debating on which of the 70-200',
it's just not a small expense is it?
Do let us know which one you select!
Sincerely, LLS
