Bridge Camera Recommendations

I currently own a Nikon D90, but I would like to purchase a digital camera I can take with me to events that do not allow "professional" cameras. I want to still be able to use the M, A, P, etc. modes, get great images and have access to a decent zoom, so I'm guessing a "bridge" camera would work. Can any of you recommend "bridge" cameras so I can do a comparison? Thank you!

As a lighter alternative to my Pentax DSLR, I found an older version of the Lumix FZ35. It is coat pocketable and at ISO 100 presents detailed images. The tradeoffs are that none of these tiny sensor cameras can render the fine detail of your SLR, and noise reduction at higher ISO's tends to wreck fine detail. WHen I see an image I think has potential, I shoot at ISO 100 in RAW. The Mallorca pics on my web site were all shot with this camera.

ALso, check in dpreview for the 4/3 sensor Olympus and Panasonic models and the new Sony and Samsung larger sensor compacts. These take "pancake" prime lenses that make for a pocketable camera.
