Photography Question

D300s or D700

I have been using a D80 for a few years now and am ready to take the next steps to becoming a better photographer. I can't decide. I would like to get another really good lens also. Right now I have a 50mm f/1.8 that I love. I basically shoot children and families. Not sure if I should just sink my money into classes, lens and a decent body and buy a better body down the road.

I would go for the glass first, especially if the 50mm is the only lens you have. Classes second and upgrade the camera on down the road. Keep in mind that the camera body doesn't make the picture, you do, good glass helps with image sharpness. Your D80 has an adequate pixel count to make a good image, so make that your last improvement.
I really like my D300, but had the $ been available I'd have gone to the D700.

Thanks Jeff. That is what I decided on. I know just have to pick which lens I want to invest in. There are way too many choices.
