Removing Fingerprint Smudges on 35mm Prints

Hi, I understand that first you should avoid putting fingers on the print surface. But, in my case some photos have gotten smudges from fingerprints. What is the recommended technique to remove these smudges? Thanks for your help and keep up the great work!

  Hi Lee,
I find the cheapest way is to use Methylated Spirits, on a lens cleaning cloth or paper towel or tissue, that isn't wood based. (Wood based paper can scratch the negs, because of the wood fibres in it). Use a cloth based paper towel instead. For the same reason, don't clean lens with tissues. You can buy special liquid from good photographic stores, for cleaning negs, but in Australia it's $50 for a small bottle.

I find the easiest and fastest way to remove fingerprints from the PRINT itself is to use a "Felt" piece of cloth and wiping in a circular motion, gently.
