I am an outdoors person, and I like pictures that are natural - i.e., no zoo shoots ... what I mean by that are photos that are so close-up that it tells nothing of the animal itself. Landscapes, I like them wide, or tall, or both. But, for the most part, I like all photos - there is something special about all of them.

I always ask myself: Do I love it? Would I want it in hanging on my wall, assuming I had any space left to hang anything.

A picture must stir up an emotion. I love landscape photography, peaceful. I love autumn leaves, and that's the time of year that I feel most alive. Photos of people, especially kids, because we are all so individual - a picture captures some of the soul. I also like to look at something 'different', where the photographer has been original and tried something new.

I personally like creativity. Color is great, but not that important with me. It must catch my eye, that is all. Also cropping is important. Cut that stuff that doesn't matter out.

The first thing that I see is subject matter. We all have subjects that are favorites, so the first thing I see is subject matter. Then I see color and composition. I am not much for pics that are Photoshopped to death. I like the more natural type of pic.

Creativity ... I love it! I love change, and I love new things so the images that I am drawn to are the images that are different. Perspective, treatments, etc. I also love images with a message or feeling that can be sent to the viewer.

It must catch the eye. On the 40 pics per page, the photos are so small, sometime it is the title that catches the eye. There are so many good photo out there I find myself looking at different subjects that I may not have before. The best photos to put online line are the ones you like, because that's what it is all about. Dr Silly

Dr. Silly has it. It must grab your attention. Something about it must draw your eye to it right away whether it be great color, focal length,or a pose that is somehow unique.

I judge each photo for what I think the taker's intent were (including my own) I look for composition, color, creativity. I try not to impose my own personal opinion on the photo. I try to judge a photo for what it is supposed to offer. If it offers that it's good, if it doesn't it's a lesson learned. When I used to comment more I made lots of positive comments on photos that weren't really "my thing". But they were still good. Now, as for photos that I like my #1 favorite subject is people, especially children and elderly. #2 is animals, especially those shots showing idivuality in the animal. Then I like landscapes, flowers, nature, wildlife, etc...etc... I am not particularly drawn to studio work, though when I see it done well I'm always impressed. I just prefer candid natural light photos for some reason. My favorite photos to take are portraits and macro. Karma

Creativity-Color-Something that tells something about the artist. A photograph is more than just a picture. It's a moment or an emotion or an object that someone thought so beautiful that it had to be captured. It should stir up emotion at the first glance, and make you wanna look deeper. It should be something very personal and individual.
