Canon or Minolta Camera for Photo Hobby

Well, I have decided to take photography as a hobby. I was always fascinated by the pictures I have seen in trade, fashion and news magazines. I want to be able to produce dramatic pictures like they put out in Time magazine or good panoramic pix from the National Geographic. I am thinking of buying either a Canon or a Minolta 35mm SLR. Can you help?

Hi, I love taking pictures of anything that catches my eye. I have a Minolta XTsi and love the quality of the pictures that it takes. I have two lenses: 28-80 and 80-200 macro. Both are Quantary AF. I have had Minolta in the past and I was happy with that one. So I would say get a Minolta. Whatever camera you get, make it one of the better cameras that the company puts out. Otherwise you will wish you did because the camera that you got doesn't do what you want it to.

I would say buying a Leica used is fine.

I guarantee you will never need anything else - EVER!
