Night time shooting When I shoot anything at night without using a flash the picture comes out blurry. For instance I tried taking pictures of the 4th of July Fireworks and they all came o ut looking like crap. What types of settings should I be using/or are there any other tips youcould give me.

If your pictures are fuzzy use a tripod. There's no secret magic solution other than that.

For fireworks, if it has "auto-focus" and you can turn it off, do so!!! Focus the lens manually at infinity. Some AF systems do not do well with fireworks; there isn't enough to focus on fast enough. -- John

For what it is worth in from the 35mm film world...I shoot a high quality 100 speed film, using tripod and cable release, open the camera to fully manual and bulb (eg, full control over how much exposure), point in the direction of the fireworks and rely solely on instincts to open and close the shutter with the cable release. TRIPOD AND CABLE RELEASE ARE ESSENTIAL. Shoot a BUNCH of shots. I have gotten some wonderful shots with this technique. I plan, next year, to scope out in advance where the fireworks are being shot from and to bring my equipment to look at where to position my camera and how to best frame the shot (getting firework's reflections off the water is something I hope to capture). Use the best lens available to you.
