Copyright I have been shooting for a while now, and I have quite a few pictures that I am pleased with. Some friends have suggested I try to sell them, but I don't know anything about this. Do you have any suggestions for this? Also, I have looked into copyright information, and it seems like you need to get a new copyright for every "collection" you have. Does this collection mean that all of my pictures would be covered, or that if I have a collection of scenic views, and a collection of portraits that I would need two copyrights? If I get a copyright, are future pictures covered under the same copyright? I know this is a lot, but I can't seem to find any info on this stuff. Thank you in advance... Robert Coombs

Robert, The instant you press shutter button, copyright is yours. (With few exceptions, like if someone helped you set up the scene). You can get extra protection (proof that you made the photo) by registering it with certain authorities in your area. (Not sure if this applies to all countries, I'm pretty sure Australia doesn't have anything like that, but I hear the US does.) Also, it's a good idea to put something like "Copyright Kenneth Pang, 2000", so that people cannot claim that they thought the image belonged to someone else or in the public domain.

Should we place a copyright on our photos on this site? I notice the the symbol for copyright is provided but that there is no date. It that a valid copyright?
