Photography Question

Robin Tucker

Have You Read the Book Understanding Exposure?

I need to learn and grow! I'm (I think) beyond the beginner level. I understand the basics. I have nice 35mm equipment and have been shooting for a while. I have artistic talent, but not much technical "know how." I saw the book by Bryan Peterson, Understanding Exposure, but a review said it was too basic. Any opinions? What about the New York Institute of Photography's course? I'm not sure that would work for me, but I love to read books! Any advice?

Hi, read Understanding Exposure and learn what he has to say! It is an EXCELLENT book! Master what he says and you will be a great photographer. The rest will come with experience.

I wholeheartedly agree with Donnarae about Understanding Exposure. Considering your self-description, it sounds perfect for you.

You might also enjoy Bryan's Learning to See Creatively.

Considering NYIP, check out these comments. They are both pro and con. Personally, I would start with the self-study (i.e. books), especially since you love to read. The correspondence courses are really good for those who need a little more structure and interaction.
