Overly Bright and Saturated Color - Canon 50D

I got a new Canon 50D for Christmas. I've been shooting my head off because there is a learning curve with a new camera. BUT I'm really having a problem with overly bright almost over saturated color. I do shoot in daylight but I did with my XTi also and got nothing close to this. I've tried to turn down the color saturation in the "picture style" menu but it did not help. Next I guess I try turning down the Color Tone to see if that does it. They can look flat at times too even when I shooting ISO 100, F/4 & SS of 1/500. If ANYONE could help me with this I would be forever grateful as I'm becoming a little discouraged.

dear ann,
i don't usually read q/a-forum posts but was perusing the site tonight and found your question with no reply. perhaps you've resolved the issue. I often find good tips on dpreview.com - here'a link to a forum in wich the topic of over-saturation with 50D is discussed (above this comment).. I don't know if it will be useful at all, but if not, contact canon? i'll also enclose one answer in case you don't want to bother with a 'read through.'

Jim - I don't know if you saw my post above about Capture One, and the redder more saturated 50D-5D/II colour profiles? Since you've got a 50D and shoot RAW using Cap One, why not try (say) the 40D's (or XT's) colour profile in place of the 50D's and see what you get? To access the colour profiles you need to be in Quick. Immediately below the histogram there's a setting marked ICC Profiles. Click on that and you should get a drop down menu showing all the various camera brands. When you click on a brand, lots of different models can be seen. Most of the Canon profiles produce pretty similar results, but I found the recently added 50D and 5D/II produce a fairly big difference compared to previous Canons.

JM not I haven't resolved it and I'm sick over the whole thing. I have two of these cameras and felt it HAD to be OPERATOR error as I couldn't have two faulty cameras. I've tried all kind of setting and nothing is helping. I'm wondering if you can help me getting the color porfile for the 40D. I do not know what you mean by I need to be in Quick.
