Canon 20d Battery Problem

I put a fully charged battery in my camera , take a few pics then it stops taking pics for me, says low battery.
I take the battery out and put it back in and it shows full charge and takes pics a couple more times and shows low battery again.
I have this problem with each of my three batteries, so its not the battery.
OK I try different lens , I still have this problem.
I tried cleaning the contacts but no improvement.

How old are your three batteries?

  Hi Melvina,
Seems kinda strange that all 3 batteries are failing at the same time even though after 3 years the batteries may be at the end of their lives. Although I have a couple that are close to 3 years old and are still going strong ????
I suspect the camera itself may be having problems, but I would suggest getting another new battery and see if it still happens. If it does, I would have Canon or the local camera store take a look at your camera.
I am also very careful to not leave the battery on the charger for long periods (I keep an eye on when them when charging and take them off within an hour after they reach full charge.
I believe the chargers are supposed to protect from over-charging but if you leave them on for too long, they could possibly become damaged.
A battery is like a capacitor in that it is made to charge and discharge but over-charging can break them down to where they cant function any longer.
my .02 - Carlton
