Photography Question

Rachel Larson

Can a lens that was once recording sharp go soft?

I have a Tamron 28-80 that I have had for about five years now. I have always taken great care with the lens. Lately, I have noticed that the images that it is capturing are not as sharp as they once used to be. Can a lens go "soft"? I have a good understanding of depth of field and my f-stops, so I don't feel that the problem lies here.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Yes. Send it to Canon and they can calibrate it for you.
