Nikon D200 Shutter Hang/Error

Has anyone experienced shutter hang with their Nikon D200? It seemes to happen mainly in manual mode on slower shutter speeds... I will go to take a shot and the shutter simply hangs open giving me an error message and the only way to revive the camera is to take the batteries out. I have updated the firmware, yet from time to time (completely spurattic) it still happenes.

I'm starting to think it may be a faulty circuit, I wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks in advance.

Greetings: I have had my D200 for a year. during this past exceptionally hot summer, it behaved as you describe quite often. I did find some constants: a lot of shots in a short time and/or using continuous shooting or quickly changing shooting mode/other settings, plus high ambient temperature. Since cooler weather arrived, it hasn't happened again. I have never updated the firmware. I have never removed the batteries, only turned the camera off and on and waited until it returns to normal, which, thus far, it always has. I have never timed it but imagine it has gone as long as a minute. I did clean the batteries and the compartment but other than that, I couldn't think of anything else to do. I am very careful to prevent condensation from forming and to keep dust out of it, though, since that's what ruined my D70. My hope is that the combination of camera generated and atmospheric heat is the cause and not some malfunction. Good luck.
