Whats The Difference? What is the difference between the 420 EX and the 550 EX?

The 550EX is a more powerful flash with a guide number of 180 ft. at ISO 100 instead of 138 ft. than the 420EX. The 550EX can also use as a master unit that triggers other 550EX or 420EX, while the 420EX can only be used as slave. You can also set rear curtain sync and manual exposure on the 550EX. All of the above is accurate! Additionally, the 550EX can be synced (at least with my Canon 10D) at shutter speed above 1/200 of a second. This is really important if you desire to use the unit as a fill at outdoor sports events,
