Want to buy a digital camera for the first time I am interested in buying a digital camera in the medium price range, 3-4 megapixel, good zoom. I want to be able to print pics, send via email, store them on the computer, edit some pictures and be able to take pics of persons, landscapes and wildlife. We have a gateway computer with Windows 95, office 2000 and a Lenmarx z32 printer. My questions: Please give me a couple of options for camera, do I need other equipment? What about the cameras that have a few lense additions (filters, etc), can I print pics my printer, will the software that comes with the cameras be compatible with my computer, what level of zoom do I need and any other advise you can offer a potential digital camera buyer. Thanks,

What bothers me is that Win 95 is pretty old. Be sure the camera's software can use 95. The zooms on all the cameras you can afford will meet your subject requirements. Ignore "digital zoom"; it'a a silly gimmick. Optical zoom is all that matters. You will also do well to buy a good imaging program and learn to use it. Some cameras come with Elements 2. There are books out on using Elements. Include the imaging program and you will save a lot of frustration when you must make adjustments in your photos and size them for print. Use a good photo quality paper with your Lexmark and see what you get. When (not if) you reach a snag in the learning curve, just get back with us.

Read a back or past issue of Photographic magazine ( June 2003 ) that has digital buyer's guide. ( you can order from www.photographic.com ).Take the time to look at all available digital cameras!

I good decent camera and cheap is the sony DSC-F717 it has all the manual settings its 5 mega pixel with a carls-zeis lens. and alot of other stuff a good entry level camera. If not a sony then go for something with more mega pixels. Because once you start taking pictures and enjoying it then you want more depth and detail...which means more mega pixels!! And for all digital photo related issues pls. look at the daddy of all softwares which happens to be photoshop!
