Purchasing New Camera

What is the difference between a Canon Rebel and the Canon D series? I am looking for comparison specs between cameras. Any info, links, etc are appreciated. Thank you.

Rachel, You can get plenty of comparitive info from this site at http://www.betterphoto.com/reviews.php. Also see www.dpreview.com for more detailed info. Actually, the rebel is a "D" series camera (450D), as are all Canon DSLRs. Some D series canons are more rugged, with more features such as larger sensors. These are priced higher than the 450D. You are doing well to compare before buying.

Rachel, the 450D(XSi) and the upcoming 500D(XTi) are entry level DSLRs. However, the 40D and 50D are semi professional DSLRs with more options such more frame per second, higher shutter speed, etc...

Rachel, you will get lots of information if you do Google searches for reviews in the cameras you are considering. Besides doing searches for reviews of specific cameras, you can also ask Google for information comparing 2 cameras or comparing Canon Rebel and Canon D.

Ken: The latest Digital Rebel, the EOS T1i, employs much of the same technology as the more expensive EOS 50D and provides many of the same features.

The T1i is called EOS 500D in some countries.

Not yet available. Will be $900 in the USA with 18-55mm lens.

This report compares the two cameras
