Nikon from China

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what the difference is between buying a Nikon DSLR from China as opposed to the ones made in the USA?? I always see "make sure it is USA and not China"?
Thank you!

There are no Nikons made in USA. There are Nikons that are imported through Nikon USA that are covered by the warranty. The same models are offered by retailers who imported them through companies other than Nikon USA and are sold as "gray market" or "import." No difference in features or quality, they come off the same factory line, but Nikon USA does not warrant these products.

Thank you. I had a feeling it was something like that. That makes sense. Thank you, again, for responding.

To use film as an example, if it's gray market, it will be the same film but you never know if it sat in a crate on a loading dock somewhere in desert heat for several days. Whereas u.s. market items are supposedly handled better for shipping.
However, with your specific example, if you are buying a nikon from china, in china, you're buying something from the bootleg capital of the world.
So you take your chances. Exact match to Nikon everthing on the outside. But if it stops working, and you take it somewhere to get it fixed, and the open it up and there's nothing on the inside that should be in a nikon, you find out what I mean.
