Lens and Camera Compatibility We have two lenses that were used with an old Pentax K1000 and are looking to buy a digital SLR. What would be compatible compatible with these lenses?

The Pentax K-mount used in their digital SLRs is little changed from that used in their old manual film cameras, and can use the old lenses. Of course you will be limited to manual focus. If the lenses don't have the "A" position on the aperture ring, they can still be used, but the camera's autoexposure capabilities are limited.

I have a Pentax K20D dSLR, and use it with older Pentax lenses, and older non-Pentax lenses, too. It works great. As Jon mentioned, unless your Pentax or compatible K-mount lens has the KA mount (supporting electronic auto-aperture), you'll have to manually stop down the lens before taking the picture. You can still use aperture-priority autoexposure (my preferred mode, even with the latest AF lenses). I focus wide-open, then stop the lens down, then take the picture. Perfect results every time! I really love using older Pentax lenses, especially M42 mount SMC Takumar lenses, on my K20D... and my Sigma SD14 dSLR, too. Some of these lenses are as good or better than the best lenses available today, and available for way less than brand-new lenses.
