Buying Studio Lighting Packages

I have had so many people ask me to do thier portraits lately that I am now looking into a simple inexpensive studio to get my feet wet in so many words. I am not looking to start out with a professional lighting studio, just something that will produce decent photos of people and children. The biggest request would be people asking me to do thier child's school photos and family Christmas portraits.

Here is a link to a studio kit I found on e-bay and this company has been in business for many years. They offer your money back within so many days with no questions asked and they have 20,816 transactions and still have maintained 100% feedback from all customers.

Please someone who knows studio lighting please take a look and tell me if this is something a beginner could start out with.

Thanks,
Tammy

Yeah well, I recommend anyone to be nice and treat people with respect no matter there level or knowledge. Nobody here is perfect or knows everything although a few here would beg to differ I am sure.

Do a search for this Tammy...you're better off starting with 1 good light then 3 crappy lights. Lots of talented portrait photogs use 1 strobe.

Oliver my darling, I get so frustrated with all the knowledge and have trouble sorting information out. It's an ADD thing......

Ok, you do seem to know what your talking about and have helped me in the past and give me lots of great information so guess I will research, which I HATE.

Where do you recommend I start?

  Tammy,
You could give reading the "Studio Photography " Threads.
You will find many who examined lighting,
made their chooses and started thier business.
and it's all there for others to read .
here is the first of 23 threads:
Part #1:

I usually recommend these:
The ones I use are Photogenic:

Thank you all very much for being nice and I see that my friend Aimee also has a thread she sent me where she asked almost the same question.

Sorry I bothered everyone with the same question that has been asked a million and one times.

OLIVER:

Yes, I may be interested but I will need to get more information from you and find out what else I may need to go along with what you have and see if you have an paypal account.

Can you all believe I just got taken, hook, line and sinker on a Nintendo Wii for 310.00 from a guy with perfect feedback? I have been selling and buying for more than five years and never once have I had a bad experience. It was like, why me? The wonderful thing was after I opened the dispute with paypal, they sided in my favor within a week and reversed the funds from the seller's account back to mine and I got my money back........I WAS VERY LUCKY!!!

Word of advice: Even those with perfect feedback, you would need to look at all the patterns within the seller's activity and check how long they have been a member and if they have sold big ticket items in the past, compare all items being sold and if your item is the only big ticket item I would caution you.....

Tammy
