choice of digi camera own Nikon F3 and am going to purchase Coolpix8700. Will Nikkormat AF lenses work with 8700. Also which shoe mount speedlight for use with both units.

The Coolpix 8700 does not have Nikkor F-mount interchangeable lenses. It has a fixed zoom and accessory wide-angle and tele- adaptors that screw on the front filter threads. If you want a digital camera that shares lenses with the F3, look at the D70. Any flash that can function in automatic non-TTL will work with each of the F3, 8700, or D70. For TTL flash control the digitals need the newer model flashes that have i-TTL.
