Yellow blotchy skin?

Hi,
I'm new to photography...I got my first SLR a couple of months ago, just in time to start photographing my nine-month-old son. My problem is that his creamy white skin often turns up blotchy and red/yellowish in pictures. I try to avoid using my flash (it's not a bounce), since I prefer the look of natural light. Could this be part of the problem? I've tried different locations, different clothing, etc. but I can't pinpoint the cause. I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Tanya

You are correct. The fact that you are not using your flash is part of the problem. From the look of the pictures I would assume that they were taken indoors with indoor lighting. When using indoor house lighting you either have to have the correct filter or use a flash. Ideal would be a bounce flash but I would think the regular flash you have would be better than no flash at all.
