Lenses- Kuminor

Does anyone know anything about Kuminor lenses? I bought a 500mm on Ebay and I'm surprised how cheap it looks and feels. I just received the lens and both my cameras are out for service, so I don't have a way to test it out. If anyone has any experience with these lenses I would like to hear your take on them. Thanks!

  Never heard of it.
Googling, I found Kimunor is a brand name of Kimura Seimitsu Kogyo Co. Ltd. (Japan).
Is this your lens? link
If so, looks to be conventional refracting telephoto, manual focus, maximum aperture of f/8, in conventional T-mount with adapters to to various common camera mount. There is no connection or communication with the camera, so you'll have to use stop-down metering (if your camera is so capable) or a separate meter.

You get what you pay for. While it will undoubtably be fun and interesting to use, I wouldn't expect it to be very sharp, especially if making larger than 4x6 prints.

Yes, that's the lens. It seems a little more like a kid's telescope than a peice of equipment I'd want to stick on my A1... and true, I guess you do get what you pay for when you buy cheap. Thanks, Jon.

It's been said before, but you need to drive this adage home somehow:
In terms of optical lenses, it is very true that "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"!
If you don't want junk, save your money and buy quality. It's that simple.
Sorry, but hopefully you learned a valuable lesson that you will take to heart the next time some super duper exotic lens is offered to you for $9.95.

Chances are you'll not going to do any portraits or anything like this for with this lens. I have one I bought just to have it and have had a lot of fun with it. Recently I shot some buffalo that were a distance away. To decrease the quality even more I put a 2x converter on there. Suprisingly, they came out pretty decent. Sure, they're not super sharp and ready for massive enlargements, but they do look decent enough.
