Photography Question

Pam

Buying tripod legs.

I am getting ready to purchase a tripod and I can not decide which set of legs to buy the Bogen 3021N legs or the Bogen 3021Pro legs. Also I don't know if I should buy black or the silver. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which set of legs are better. Thanks

The choice between silver and black is simply one of personal preference.

There is a significant design difference between the 3021N and 3021Pro. The center column of the 3021N simply raises/lowers vertically. The 3021Pro is more versatile. The center column can be repositioned horizontally, and can be switched to low-angle (head and camera between the legs) without removing the head.

Thanks for your response. I was wondering if you or someone else reading this may know if the 3021N can be switched at all to low angle. The way I read the describtion on it you can and a man working at a photo store showed me how to do it on that model. Do you mean that you have to take the head off to do it or that you can not do it at all. The one he showed me didn't have the head on it. Also I thought that the 3021Pro was the same as the 3021N except that it has the sliding center column that you slide into a second opening for the horizontal positioning. How does the 3021Pro switch to low-angle without removing the head? Hopefully you can help me understand this a little better than I do. Thanks you.

You can go to Manfrotto's web site and they have pictures explaining how to use the 3021Pro in low angle shot. Here's the site:

http://www.bogenimaging.us/

Select 'Products' and 'Manfrotto' at the first row. Then select 'Photo: Rapid Column' under 'Tripods' section. Hope this helps.

I just purchased a tripod. The salesman that I bought my camera from, advised me to buy the Bogen 3021N with a Bogen Grip Action Ball Head. He said, it was really easy to handle, and easy to mount the camera on. I asked about how low the legs would go, and he assured me they will lower down to where you can take pictures of something or someone on the floor. Hope this helps.
