camera for an amateur


is the Canon - EOS Rebel GII SLR Camera a good choice for an amateur, I want a camera that is manual an automatic settings, around $200-300.

  Yes, Mario ---your budget can get you both an AF camera with manual/auto setting. Also , there's a Nikon N75 ( body at Cameta Photo is a BARGAIN at $ 170.00 ---USA, not gray stuff....).Its usually available at the EBAY website where you can also find the 'D' or 'G' series of pro lenses.

  That GII will work OK for manual exposure, but it's a pain in the neck 'cause it doesn't have a rear control whell. If you plan to take most of your pictures in manual, go for the Elan7/7n, they run about $300 w/out lens. Put down $75 for the EF 50mm f/1.8 II, and you'll have a fine system.
