beginner camera

It was in 1983 that I was in india a friend of mine got a gift of minolta camera from a relative in Germany. He took some of my pictures with it in day light. They came so good that to this day I can never forget them. Unfortunately I cannot remember which minolta model or lense he used. I have tried yashica FX3 with 50 mm lense. But that minolta camera is still in back of mind. Now I don't know what to buy? minolta X-700, X-370? I think minolta is not making manual Slr any more? I am not sure about maxxum 5 or maxxum 70 or maxxum 50? Now someone mentioned cannon eos T2? Is canon better than minolta these days? And please tell me what lense should I buy. Thanks

Do you still have the Yashica FX3? Go to KEH.com (or any other used camera dealer) and look at the Contax 50mm f1.7 or 45mm lenses. You will have among the very best in optical quality to fit your Yashica. If your Yashica is no longer working, look for a Minolta X370 or X570. Look for the 50mm f1.7, 28mm f2.8 and 85mm lenses. You would have excellent optics on a reliable camera. Minolta's Maxxum cameras are as good as any, if you want a new camera.
