Do you need a battery charger?
Do I need a battery charger for a digital camera, or do I just replace the batteries. In terms of cost for the battery charger versus the batteries, which is more cost effective. Or can you just buy a gross of batteries at a Costco for a reasonable price. Thank you Hari h

Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries can be recharged about one thousand times and the charger can be purchased for 10 to 20 dollars depending on the size. This is providing your camera takes standard size batteries, like aaa, aa, c, etc. Even a special sized battery and the plug in charger for the camera, if that is what it takes, would probably be more economical in the long run.

Some digitals come with rechargeable batteries in them such as some of Sony's. The camera is just plugged into a cord, and the batteries re-charge in the camera.

Absolutely use rechargeables! But....when you go out to shoot and cant afford to miss, be sure to have a spare set of store batteries in case you forgot to charge!
