Photography Question

Amy

cameras / lens

I' m confused about the camera I should buy. I'm a beginner wanting to be a photographer. I want to focus on outdoor photography, landscapes, city scapes & wildlife. I'm not sure about the camera or lens I should get. I am leaning towards the canon series though.
THANKS,
AMY

This question has been asked many times in the past. If you keep going back in the list, you may find some input to this question. Basically you have to really hold the potential cameras in your own hand to feel them. The design, the weight and even the layout of the controls are different with each manufacturer. Besides the feeling and the price, I will also consider the following for your application. 1)Weight. The camera, lens, accessories, batteries, tripod and even the carrying case all add up. 2)Resistance to moisture and sand. Do you stay out a lot or stay inside if the weather is not perfect? 3)Interchangable lens. You will need wide angle lens for landscape, macro lens for close up and long lens for wildlife. Do you want image stabalize or vibration reduction lens? 4)Third party lens available. Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, just name a few, made lens for Canon, Nikon, Minolta and Pentax. 5)External flash 6)MAUAL mode 6)External shutter release/remote (if the camera has a self timer control that can be used in combination of other settings, you may not need them) 7)Upgradable. In the future you want to get another camera with the same brand, are all the accessories still can be used?

I would narrow down the few cameras with all the features and accessories that I need based on the budget. Then go to the store to play with them before I make my decision. Hope this helps.
