Photography Question

Can JPEG be changed to RAW or TIFF

If a photo is taken in JPEG with a camera, can you use PS7 to save as to a RAW or TIFF file ??? Would this file be the same as taken a photo with your camera in the RAW setting ????
If entering a photo contest and they ask for a photo in it's RAW format would that be the JPEG if the camera was on the JPEG setting or should the photo file be changed to RAW in PS 7 ??

When a photo is shot in JPEG, it is compressed even as it is recorded onto the memory card. Changing to TIF immediately in PS7 will let you can do all your edits without worrying about further compression. As far as I know, one cannot go from JPEG to raw.

  Hello All,
If you have not taken the photo originally in RAW format - you cannot convert to RAW - you can convert it to TIF without any problem.
The only way that I can suggest to get a RAW format - would be to get the image professionally printed - probably at 12in x 8in (not on gloss paper - to reflective) and set you camera on a tripod and copy the photo using raw on your digital camera. Lighting will be your next obstacle - but you can see what you are doing with your digital camera and take as many photos as necessary until you get it right.
