Improving stills from a video camera

I like to print pictures from my digital video camera's video footage - 25 frames / sec to choose from. The results are ok but I would like to get closer to film quality. I am ready to buy a new video camera, but have been told that the tape limits what I can do. A DVD video camera could produce better results? Could some please explain the relationship between pixels and image quality. I have a poor quality picture and a high quality picture on Adobie photoshop 7 - they show the same pixels per inch???
Any other web sites around that relate to my questions.
Help please!!!

Try to buy a copy of a back issue of Photographic magazine last JUNE 2003 that has the annual digital camera buyer's guide. The questions regarding pixels and image quality are all ANSWERED there. Or try www.imagexperts.com There's a NEW product called DVD workshop ($299)--very easy to use. ( from ULEAD ) or DVD Picture Show ( $ 49.95 ) also from ULEAD. Both can help you with the Digital problems you had encountered.
