How do I upgrade from Lightroom 4 & not lose stuff I desperately need to bite the bullet and upgrade my LR but I have version 4 and am told by others that I risk losing a lot if I do so. Is there a way to do this safely and which version do you all recommend? I know there is a cloud based version but what are the downsides to doing that? Thanks. -Betty Ann

First of all, back up all your photos by exporting them from LR to a folder. Then use an external hard drive to back them up outside your computer. Then call Adobe and sign up for CC that is available to photographer for about 10 dollars a month. The sales rep can help you. Yes, it is time. My old computer is 10 years old. I am facing the dilemma of what to buy for the next ten years. It is daunting. Good luck. PS Some people use Adobe Elements and you can still buy a stand alone copy, at least I think so.
