Can I Enter the Same Picture in the Contest Twice? I have a picture I really like and put it in the contest under a category it sorta fits in. Now I wish it were in the contest under a different category. Can I reenter it into this months contest again or would the judges only recognize the first entry? Or it it rather "weird" to put the same picture in the same contest twice?

Why not? If you do, upload the original again so it gets a new BP photo number...or, if it doesn't get an EP (or higher) this month, just reenter next month.... :-)

Here is a link for the rules: http://www.betterphoto.com/contest/categories.php But remember... you can only enter a particular photo into one category per month. You cannot enter a photo repeatedly in various categories. Carefully analyze your photo, compare to previous winners, and then choose the most fitting category.

I believe Jill's answer and what I think you are asking mean that it would be better to wait a month to re-enter it. BUT you can also just change the category on the entry, and I don't think you realize that. Go to your member center where you manage your images and under the image drop down the menu of categories. Pick the new category and submit. It will remain in the contest on the earlier date but will have the new category. You can't do this once the month has ended, but at this point in time, that's what I would suggest you do unless you've already uploaded a second one.

So, Jill and Nikki, are you saying that I can only put the same picture in once even if I go back and change what category it is under? Sorry I didn't quite understand what you are trying to say. The picture I was wondering about perfectly fits under the Monthly category and the Nature catergory. I had at first put it under the Man Made category and decided that I wanted it changed and so I changed it to the Monthly category. But I also want the same picture under the nature category too. Are you saying that I should just hold off and put the picture in the nature category next month or can I reupload the picture( so it gets a new BP photo number) and enter it under the nature caegory this month yet? Sorry for the bother but I appreciate your input!:)

Jill has paraphrased a line from the rules when she says, ". . . you can only enter a particular photo into one category per month." I found this under Terms and Conditions - Additional Contest Rules: "You are allowed to enter only one photo into the photo contest per day. A BetterPhoto day is considered 12:01am to 12 midnight, Pacific time. If more than one entry is entered into the photo contest in one day, all but the first entry will be disqualified. You may only enter a given photo only once. You may only enter each given photo into a single category." It's the last two sentences that I feel apply here. So yes, I would wait until next month to try Nature and Landscapes. And even then, I would wait until the Staff Favorites had come out to try it again - which will probably mean it would be one of your very last entries in February. This next is not a rule, just my own guideline. If I have an image I feel is perfect for the Monthly Theme, that's the category I go with. After all, the other nine themes will be available to me every month while a particular theme may only come around once.

You can enter an image in one category per month. You can change the category if you want by deleting the image from the first category and posting it again in the new category. Personally if I have any doubt, I enter it in one category, see if it gets any notice that month. If not I just uncheck that it can be seen in my gallery and enter it in a different category the next month... I have had an image get nothing one month, and then won the next month in a different category. I always put down what category I have entered it into in my description for later verification for myself... Best of luck!
