B&W contest

Does anyone know if there was ever a B&W category for the cotest, I would love to see one added to the contest.

BP did it once as a theme, back in 2011. Probably not a bad idea to have it as a theme again.

I love the idea of a black and white monthly theme. But I enter black and white photos in other categories all the time and have many Finalists and Winners from among them, so just throw them in.

Thanks for all the replies, I thought that maybe they had one and it had no interest so they dropped it. I do enter B&W images also in the other contest, just thought it would be nice to have a contest where they just judge the B&W image on its own merits.

What's interesting to me is that I had entered a B&W photo that TO ME should go into the Man-Made category. But, when I checked on BP's category guidelines for "Man-Made", it says any B&W (or partially colored) photo should go in Digital Darkroom. http://www.betterphoto.com/contest/categories.php

I then checked the Man-Made Winners and Finalists page(s) and found several B&W images. So, I will change the category for my entry BACK to Man-Made.

My two cents worth - I think B&W should have it's own category. For me it's a totally different way of processing what I see and feel about an image. Tones, contrast, moods etc. Like most of you I submit my B&W's in categories they seem to fit in, but sometimes wish I could go head to head in just B&W. I think, at least, a B&W monthly theme once a year would be great.
